He was a private in The Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, served in the United Kingdom and Europe and was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the War Medal (1939-45).
