On September 11-13, 2009, many Métis and Francophones travelled to North Battleford, Saskatchewan to hold a roundtable regarding issues of concern for both communities—Founding Peoples of Canada. This was the third travelling roundtable for these communities, and it focused on Métis and Francophones living in the northern part of the province, and was organized by the Institut français, the Assemblée communautaire fransaskoise, and the local Métis community including direct descendants. The event included community roundtables, general interest talks, as well as a special cultural evening featuring well-known artists from both communities including featuring John Arcand, Gilbert Pelletier, Roger Dallaire, Daniel Gervais, Jos Marchildon, Freddie and Clinton Pelletier, the Alexis Normand Trio and others. The Gabriel Dumont Institute also launched its cultural resources, "Pierriche Falcon: The Michif Rhymester." For the launch, Paul Chartrand, the book’s author, discussed the project, and John Arcand, Desmond Legace, and Krystle Pederson preformed Falcon’s timeless songs.
