Description: In this page from his sketchbook, Dennis Fisher sketched some of the artifacts that he his wife and their three sons found on field ``D`` at the Batoche battlefield in 1968. Dennis Fisher sketched the images in the sketchbook in the late 1970s, although one image sketched in 2008. During the 1960s and `70s, Dennis and Jean Fisher and their three sons visited various archaeological sites in Saskatchewan and Montana, and collected hundreds of artifacts relating to Métis history. Overtime, Dennis, a trained draftsperson, sketched many of these finds in this sketchbook, which relate to the 1885 battlefields at Batoche and Fish Creek (Tourond`s Coulee), Gabriel (Dumont)`s Crossing near Batoche, fur trade posts at Fort Carlton at Fort Pitt, and US military forts such as Fort Assinniboine near Havre, Montana. This sketchbook is part of the Dennis and Jean Fisher Collection. This collection contains archaeological artifacts taken from the battlefields of the 1885 Resistance as well as Fort Pitt (Saskatchewan), Cumberland House (Saskatchewan), and St. Peter`s Mission, Montana. The collection also includes various artifacts and ephemera relating to the 1885 Resistance and Gabriel Dumont.
