Title: The 65th Battalion (French Canadians) Leaving Bonaventure Station, May 2, 1885
Creator: Grip P. & P. Co.
Subject: Illustrated War News, 1885 Resistance, Métis, Soldiers, History
Description: Soldiers leaving for the front aboard a Grand Truck Railway (later the Canadian Northern Railway) car. Not all French Canadians were opposed to the Canadian Army fighting against the Métis. In this print, which is in a horizontal format with an inset, a French-Canadian battalion is leaving to put down a Métis resistance. It is important to not that French-Canadian nationalist sympathy became enflamed only during and after Louis Riel's trial and execution.
