Description: Joanna was interviewed on January 30, 2003 Fenwood, Saskatchewan. Joanna was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan during the beginning of the Second World War. She talks about her family history and both of her parents come from large families. Her grandfather owned a coalmine and a lot of her family worked there and she discusses a lot of detail about this coalmine. Joanna grew up around her aunts and uncles and she discusses the roles that each family member had. Because her father enlisted in the war and her mother went to the city to work, Joanna was raised mainly by her grandparents. Joanna also discusses clothing, school, dances, religion, food, language, lifestyles, and identity.
